I had my first doctor's appointment at 8 weeks. It was a great relief because it confirmed all of those positive tests - it's for real! Everything looked fine and he said things are coming along like normal. The doctor did a quick ultrasound so he could see the heartbeat. The snapshot below isn't very clear, but you can see in the lower edge there's a little gumball. Yay!
